Ainslie Mears writes this little poem to explain it:
"Read this!
Why read the words
When there are no words
Read between.
And then it comes
It is there
And we have it for ever." (Meares 1976)
Here Meares tells us that once we have the skill, it does not go away.
Some words, however, there must be, to impart the skill,
but after that it is a matter of experience and practice as suggested by the poem above.
